In this study we visualize the US geographic region called the Black Belt. It is named for its demographics; it is a region of counties with high African American populations. In the map the counties are predominately located in the South, stretching from Lousiana (and a part of Texas) all the way to the DC area. History shows us that these counties are where African slaves worked (and were exploited for free labor among other things). What insights can you find from this data? Let us know in the comments
